Beginner Photo Workshop for October 9th, 2011

Okay, you asked for it, and so here we go again with another Beginner Photo Class!  This class is for the gal with the DSLR camera she got for (insert occasion here) but still shoots in point n shoot mode.  My goal is to put you in manual mode and teach you the three basic functions ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.  Learning these will help you learn how to use light instead of that dreadful flash and create better photographs!  I will also teach you how to get those great blurry background, creative shots that I love so much.

So class will run from 10am (see I let you sleep in) until 2pm.  The first half of class we will go over our basic functions.  This is all hands on so bring your cameras, your lenses, manuals, battery chargers, etc.  While I am talking, I encourage you to fiddle, take pictures, etc.  We will stop after each section and practice a bit.  After the classroom part we will have lunch set up for you.  And honestly I think this might be one of the favorite parts of class.  My dear friends Karen and Amara prepare the best lunch ever.  I am not kidding, you will want to be all proper and stuff and only take one helping, but your taste buds will be dragging you back for seconds.  After class I have some beautiful little models that show up for us to have a real live photo shoot!  This is for you to practice your settings and for me to come around and help you all!  Depending on the weather we will set up props outside, but if we must remain indoors, the building has lots of windows that provide a lot of beautiful light for us.  After the photo shoot we all come back in for wrap up.  This is for you to ask any questions about anything.  This includes, photoshop (I wont really touch on that much but I can answer basic questions) business, or the basics we just went over.

Class will be held at the adorable Glen Echo Community Center in Everson, Wa.  This is an old schoolhouse and has plenty of charm.  I love it and I know you will too.  Cost will be $130 and that will cover your lunch and materials.  The link to registration is

I will cap the class at 15.  If you have any questions please feel free to email me

What a beautiful day for a photo class!

Yes!  Finally a nice day for a photo class!  My last 4 classes we have had to stay inside because of rain, or wind, or just plain freezing weather!  It was so nice and warm and I was able to set up props around the building.  I had a great group of ladies and some wonderful little models.  Couldnt ask for a better day.  Here are some of my photos of class and some of the models.  I will post again later with some class photos.  Next photo class will be probably late summer or early fall depending on how busy it gets for me!  I have senior season and hopefully we get Holiday portraits done earlier this year (don’t wait till November!  Icky weather!)

January Photo Class

I just wanted to post some photos of last Sundays photo class!  Thank you ladies for coming and listening and playing with your cameras!  I truly enjoy teaching and watching you shoot.  From what I have seen from some of you, you definitely know what you are doing!  The pictures turned out gorgeous!  I will get some photos from the students soon and post what they took, there really are some lovely pictures that were taken!  Until then, I will post some I took real quick of the class.  I will be setting up another class for the end of April soon, so be on the lookout for the link as I will only take 15 students!

Crafting day

I am not really a crafty person, but I do really enjoy making folders for my classes.  I try to do something different each time.  I just got finished putting some sparkley touches on my new batch (sparkles not shown).  Now just have to decide on some props for the class and I am ready to go.  I do need a couple more kiddos to be my little models so if you think your kid would be good at following direction and doesnt mind there photo taken, send me a photo to .  The class is Sunday January 30th and would need your child from about 12:45-1:45.  And if you are interested in taking the class there are a few more spots open.

New Ladies Beginner Photography Class for January!

I have a new class set up for Sunday January 30th, 2011!  This is another Beginner Workshop that will cover ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed.  So if you have a DSLR camera and are stuck on the little green box and want to know how to create your own perfect exposure, this class is for you!  This is how our day will go.. Class starts at 10am sharp (lots of info to squeeze in!) we will spend the first part of the day learning the magic 3 (ISO, Aperture/Fstop, and Shutter Speed).  I will provide a delicious lunch catered by the amazing Amara, and then the last part of the day we will practice on some really fun “little” models.  Class will end at 2pm, but I will hang around for any questions or more practice if people would like.  Class will be held at the Glen Echo Community Center in Everson and will be limited to 20 students!  The last class filled up very quickly so be sure to register early!  Cost is $100.  If you have any questions feel free to email me at

Here are a few pictures of the last class and the wonderful location!

New Photography Workshop!

Alright, after many emails asking if I would do another class, I have decided to go ahead and give it a go!  So this will be another Beginner Photography Class.  This means you don’t have to know a thing!  I will teach you how to use ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed.  This will be a hands on class so you will need to bring your camera and be ready to use it.  After going over all the functions and practicing a bit, we will have a light lunch and then we will practice on real people.  During this time I will show you how a typical photo shoot goes for me and what exactly I do to get the shots I want.  We will have Q and A time as well at the end.  I found the most adorable place to have class at the old Glen Echo Community Center which is located at the corner of Goodwin and South Pass Road.  It is a beautiful old school-house with a lot of beautiful natural lighting.  I am in love with this building!  Class will be held from 10:00 am to 2 pm and cost is $100.  Here is the link to registration   Please let me know if you have any other questions!
